Understanding Divisions

This guide explains what Divisions are and how they are used within your organisation. It covers what a division represents, how it connects to sections, and what visual and configuration options are available for each one.

What is a Division ?

A Division represents a distinct part of your organisation. Divisions can be used in different ways depending on your setup:

  • To represent brands under one organisation.

  • To represent locations or venues, such as regional branches or offices.

  • To represent groups or competitions, such as Premier Grade, Junior Division 1, or Corporate Team A.

Each division has its own name, code, section, and visual design options that help distinguish it from others in the system.

Division Details

Each division has several key fields that define how it appears and operates within the system.

Name

The full name of the division. This appears anywhere the division is listed or displayed publicly.
Example: Premier Division or Melbourne Branch

Code

A short identifier for the division, typically a few letters or numbers.
Example: PD1, SYD, or JNRU18
Codes are useful for reporting, sorting, or internal references.

Section

Divisions can belong to a Section, which is a higher-level grouping such as Juniors, Seniors, or Corporate.
If a division doesn’t fit within a section, it can be left as No Section.

Status

Indicates whether the division is currently active:

  • Active – The division is visible and used across the platform.

  • Inactive – The division is hidden from active lists but remains stored for future use.

Design Options

Each division can have its own set of images and branding to give it a unique identity. These assets appear on public pages, streams, and marketing materials.

Logo

The division’s main logo, usually square or round, that visually represents the brand, team, or group.

Header

A wide banner image often used at the top of division pages or broadcast layouts.

Poster

A promotional image used for marketing, events, or program displays.

Watermarks

Watermarks are transparent images that can be shown over video streams or promotional content to identify the division. You can assign up to three per division:

  • Top Watermark – Appears at the top of video or image layouts.

  • Middle Watermark – Appears in the center.

  • Bottom Watermark – Appears near the lower edge.

Each can be customised to fit the branding or sponsorship requirements of that division.

File Guidelines

When adding or updating images for a division:

  • Use .png format (check your organisation’s preferred format).

  • Recommended minimum size: 300 × 300 pixels for logos.

  • Keep file sizes within your organisation’s upload limits.

  • Transparent PNGs work best for watermarks.

How Divisions Fit Into the System

Divisions sit below the organisation level and may be grouped under sections. They often serve as the link between brands and locations. For example:

  • Organisation: Your company

    • Section: Brand 1

      • Division: Location 1

    • Section: Brand 2

      • Division: Location 2

This structure allows each division to have its own design identity and data while remaining part of the larger organisation.

Example Use Cases

  • A multi-brand organisation assigns one division per brand, each with its own logo and colours.

  • A sporting organisation uses divisions to represent separate competitions.

  • A business uses divisions to manage different offices or franchise locations.

Summary

Divisions are a flexible way to organise your organisation’s content, branding, and competition structure. By assigning distinct names, codes, and images to each division, you can maintain clarity, consistency, and visual identity across all parts of your organisation.
