Technical foundations & recommended setup

Broadercaster Memorial is built on reliable, adaptive streaming so families can watch from any device. We recommend a stable upstream connection (wired where possible), with a target upload headroom of at least 2× your chosen bitrate. A single high-quality camera is sufficient for most chapels; PTZ cameras add flexibility for eulogy close-ups and wide shots without moving tripods mid-service. Feed clean audio from the venue PA (balanced line or XLR via an interface) for clarity; camera mics should be a backup only. Use AC power and taped cables for safety. Perform a pre-flight test: confirm framing, white balance, audio levels, and network stability; check that overlays (logo/watermark) look tasteful on both light and dark scenes. Operators should monitor stream health, audio meters, and player playback on a second device. After the service, let the recording finish processing before publishing; then quickly test the VOD on mobile and desktop. For accessibility, plan to add captions if available. Keep spare HDMI/SDI cables, a power board, and a mobile hotspot as backup. Document your venue presets once, then reuse them—consistency is the fastest path to stress-free services.
